Ready to shake off the winter blues? These five spring cleaning tips will help you refresh your home, boost your energy, and create a calming space that feels brand new.
1. Declutter First, Clean Second
Spring cleaning starts with decluttering—because why clean around things you don’t need? Go room by room, sort items into “keep, donate, and toss” piles, and free up space for a fresh start.
Pro Tip: Once your space is clutter-free, use a room spray or burn a fresh, clean-scented soy candle to enhance the feeling of openness and renewal.
2. Refresh Your Home’s Scent
A home that looks clean is one thing—but a home that smells clean? Game changer.
Swap out artificial air fresheners for natural, non-toxic scents like soy candles or wax melts.
Open windows to bring in fresh air and remove stale winter odors.
Use linen sprays on curtains, bedding, and upholstery to keep everything smelling crisp.

3. Deep Clean High-Traffic Areas
Focus on the areas that get used (and neglected) the most:
Kitchen: Wipe down cabinets, clear out the fridge, and freshen up your garbage disposal with citrus peels.
Bathroom: Swap out old towels, scrub grout, and add an aromatherapy element like an essential oil diffuser.
Living Room: Vacuum under furniture, wipe down baseboards, and replace heavy winter blankets with lighter fabrics.
4. Create a Cozy & Inviting Atmosphere
Spring cleaning isn’t just about cleaning—it’s about transforming your space into a place that feels good to be in.
Layer soft lighting with candles to add warmth.
Introduce a few fresh flowers or indoor plants for a natural touch.
Incorporate scents like lavender, fresh linen, or citrus to enhance relaxation.

5. Refresh Your Routine Along with Your Home
Spring cleaning isn’t just about your space—it’s also a great time to reset your habits and mindset.
Take time to unplug, practice self-care, and create a routine that keeps your home feeling fresh year-round.
A small change, like lighting a candle in the evening as part of your wind-down routine, can help signal to your brain that it’s time to relax and make your home feel extra cozy.
Spring Cleaning Survival Checklist
Decluttering
☐ Start with one room—don’t try to do everything at once.
☐ Create piles: keep, donate, toss.
☐ Be ruthless. If you haven't used it in a year, let it go.
☐ Organize as you go—storage bins and labels are your friends.
Deep Cleaning
☐ Wipe down kitchen cabinets and clear expired pantry items.
☐ Scrub the fridge (yes, even the sticky mystery stain on the bottom shelf).
☐ Freshen up the garbage disposal with lemon and baking soda.
☐ Scrub grout and swap out old bathroom towels.
☐ Vacuum under furniture (no, dust bunnies don’t count as pets).
Refreshing Your Home’s Scent
☐ Open windows to air out winter mustiness.
☐ Light a soy candle with a fresh scent to set the mood.
☐ Use linen sprays on bedding, curtains, and upholstery.
Creating a Cozy Atmosphere
☐ Swap heavy winter blankets for lighter throws.
☐ Add fresh flowers or a new plant for a natural refresh.
☐ Layer lighting—candles, soft lamps, and natural light.
☐ Organize entryways to keep clutter from creeping back.
Refreshing Your Routine
☐ Set aside time for daily decluttering.
☐ Light a candle as part of your evening wind-down ritual.
☐ Make a playlist to keep cleaning from feeling like a chore.
☐ Reward yourself when you finish—because you deserve it.

Downloaded and now I hope I can implement it.
Thanks so much for the guide and checklist. This will definitely come in handy. Can’t agree with you more to declutter first especially closets, basements, spare rooms, etc. We we tend to hang onto too much. So for me, it’s time to purge and donate for items. I haven’t used in a while.
I’ve been putting off cleaning my kitchen cabinets, my linen closet and my spare bedroom which has become a chaotic catch all! Definitely the push I need to get it done!
I LOVE a good clean at the beginning of the new year! I open the windows, make big piles of washing, clearing out closets/cabinets, and really putting in some elbow grease to clean everything. I haven’t gotten to it this year, but I think I’ll use your tip to get some flowers or a couple of plants to liven up my spaces.
My absolute favorite spring fragrance this year is Black Lavender, and Berry Blossoms is a close second!
Thank you for the list!!!! I needed motivation to start cleaning for spring. This is great. And your candles are the only ones I will buy!!
